The Trip so Far...

Tanner, Carter and I are on vacation in California. Michelle recently returned home from her mission in Frankfurt, Germany and we were able to attend her homecoming. She gave a wonderful talk.

The following are pictures of the trip so far. We have many more days ahead. There is still swimming at Grandma Edvenson's house and going to the beach for Carter's first time on our list. This is a photo heavy entry, but I couldn't leave any out!

Carter loves playing the piano with his Aunt Michelle and "Auntie" Abbie.

Tanner, Abbie and Michelle (usually at the piano) played some beautiful music together. It was quite impressive.

Reed, Megan and Cal Olsen came to Michelle's homecoming. It was so fun to reconnect with them and watch Cal and Carter play.
Reed and Tanner have been good friends for years. It's fun to see them both be such great fathers.
Carter loves his Auntie Abbie

Four generations! Carter Morrell Dietrich, son of Tanner Morrell Dietrich, son of Thomas Morrell Dietrich, son of Ernie Dietrich.
Dad pushing the two "kids".
Carter will always have a playmate in daddy.

Carter and grandpa.

"Carter, let's go this way." I think he may have other thoughts.

Dinner at Johny Carino's t celebrate dad's 60th Birthday.
One of dad's gifts; a picture of he and his family.
This was too funny. Jake ordered this and when he told the waiter what he wanted the waiter said, "Are you really hungry?" Uncertain Jake said, "Yes." We understood the question after we saw the food. Jake did a great job at eating it though...he really was hungry!

Little Cottonwood Canyon

I love Little Cottonwood Canyon. It is a beautiful place naturally, but it is also full of church history. The early members of the church would come here to quarry granite for the Salt Lake Temple. Forty-years in the making is no small feat, and it still stands beautifully today as a monument to their sacrifice.

Carter enjoyed himself immensely, especially when we allowed him to escape from his backpack. It is special to bring him here when both Tanner’s and my family history lines are full of pioneers. We certainly are blessed to enjoy the fruits of their labors.

Drill holes made by the pioneers in their effort to quarry the granite.
Hanging out with daddy.

Found his very own granite.

Warm Weather Fun

Sometimes I wish I could write more, but my imagination just can't keep up with the nice weather. Nice weather = more pictures! Loved taking Carter out today. The weather was perfect for swinging, sliding, and chasing ducks!

Just chillin' in the swing.
He always looks bored in the swing, but I've decided it's just serenity because whenever we try to get him out he cries.
I just love this outfit, it makes me smile
Carter is really into finding flowers lately.

Is that an official 'stink eye'?
"Get the duck!" Poor duck ended up on the water to get away.
Carter's new kicks. These sandals stay on and don't cause him to cry...

Temple Square

What better way to get a wiggly worm out than to take him back to your mission! Who does that? It’s a lot of fun living so close to Temple Square, and it seems that each time we go Carter finds a new way to enjoy it. This time I think he enjoyed the reflection pool the most, however I don’t think the workers felt the same when they saw Carter splashing in the water. He got soaked! We enjoyed the beautiful temple, flowers, water, and visiting the Christus statue.

Carter found a flower in the middle of the lawn area just in front of the temple. He loved carrying it around and of course giving it to me. What a little gentleman.

Discovering his flower. He saw it from far away. I had no idea what he was doing.
Still learning how to smell and not eat the flowers.

Won't let go of his flower.

"For you!"

Someday I want to use this for his future wife when he proposes...I'm sure he might have other ideas...

"I love to see the Temple."
Here's where the trouble started.
He didn't want to stop playing in the water. You can see he is soaked.
"Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 19:14).
